My open letter to the Manti Utah Open House Committee.
Before I begin though I would like to write down some search engine keywords to help guide more traffic to this blog.
Manti Temple Tickets. Manti Temple Tickets Not Needed. Two Hour Wait At The Manti Temple. We Waited In Line At The Manti Temple. No One Checking Tickets At The Manti Temple.
Ok. So.
Dear Manti Utah Temple Committee as well as other Temple Committees soon to be formed.
I have one question.
What’s the point of a Temple Ticket with a designated time if you are not going to require or have volunteers checking for them?
I could probably end my letter there because that question speaks VOLUMES.
I reserved my tickets back in the first week of February. All time slots had been booked up to my ticket time, 6:50 P.M. I made plans around that Ticket. A week leading up to the open house we heard radio advertisements welcoming people to the Manti Temple. “Tickets are recommended but are not required” the announcer said. Ok. Maybe they will have separate lines for ticket holders? They did not. There were people lining up behind us who had tickets with time slots who left because of the length of the line. Let’s be honest. Everyone who reserved their tickets early were pushed back by people who did not reserve one at all.
So how long did it take my family to get into the Temple?(Again we had a 6:50 reservation)
2 hours 40 minutes
After driving by the temple earlier in the day we did some research through Facebook and instagram. A lot of non ticket holders were posting and letting others know that tickets were not required and that the wait was about an hour and a half. So we arrived earlier than our time slot and it still took us 2 hours 40 minutes.
Here’s what really is painful though. When we finished our beautiful breathtaking tour of the temple, there was no line. We could have walked right back through. Had we had no kids we might have but that’s just a blow to all that patience waiting for 2 hours 40 minutes.
Basically my argument is this. A ticket system is to help with crowd control. Having a ticket system and not even honoring it is worthless. It’s pointless and even DISHONEST! (The only word I have used in expression). You the temple committee of the Manti Utah Temple did one dishonest thing when setting up this open house. You created a bait n switch. A ticket with no worth. If anything this has taught me not to even bother getting a ticket because from all of my research, you will not be turned away.
There’s got to be a better system than offering a spot to ticket holders but not honoring their ticket.
Just a couple Facebook comments that clearly point to a problem with the ticketing system.
