June's I can't afford it award

This will be quick. My time is short this month causing me to focus my attention elsewhere

I quickly found 2 contestants this month for the award. 1st the runner up

Can someone spell desperation? Seriously though. Another person seeing this car as eye candy that he just has to have. "Wow I would look awesome in that" or even "I deserve this" does not make it a free car. People Don't realize that the car payment is just the top of the Iceberg. You've got insurance gas registration oil changes tire changes engine repairs (if not under warranty) job stability life stability. If your not prepared you will lose your vehicle your status and even good credit rating.
one more note on this person, I did find out that he did go to some sort of Bahama or caribbean destination while he owned this car. I wonder how many payments he could of made with the price of that one vacation.

Our winner of our June 2015 CPA'S "I can't afford it award" goes to:
This person
He didn't have a good enough picture so I am sticking with the description .
This is seriously laughable. He hasn't even made his first payment because he lost his job?? Seriously people HAVE A BACK UP PLAN. When I bought my overpriced Hyundai where I was forced to go into debt we had a plan and a backup plan. Unfortunately an unplanned pregnancy had me land on another back up plan where I worked a 2nd part time job to get us through.
Again if you haven't read my Car Payments Anonymous Rules here they are.
1. Do not finance a vehicle. Have your Vehicles paid for.
You'll thank me when you lose income a job or have an unplanned medical bill. You car won't be repoed. You'll at least have that security. If you cannot afford a 1000 dollar car and need a loan to get you back on your feet I made Rule # 2 for you
2. Don't finance past 5000 dollars. That is a car that reasonably falls into your needs catigories and a little bit of your wants and should only be around 100 dollars a month with lower insurance and registration fees.
Why? Well let me answer it by this scenario. Say you lose your job with a brand new car. Your first month you miss a payment it will cost you 400 dollars 2nd 800 plus fees 3rd 1200 plus fees After that they repo your car and charge you a whopping amount to get your lifeline, your freedom back to you. If you have a good decent 5000 dollar car your first month will be 100 2nd 200 Plus fees 3rd 300 plus. Do you see the picture? You're backing up your purchase with a plan. Keep the payment low so if something does goes wrong you can easily make up what you owe. It will be so much easier to come up with 100 dollars than 400. Heck you have 4 MONTHS before you even match what a brand new car payment will cost you.

Till next month.

Taking a break. Trying a new path.

I think this will be my last post for a while. I'm spending too much time online and not a whole lot of time on other things after working a 10 hour day all I want to do is just relax and look online for a couple of hours. It's starting to get in front of some of my goals and if I want to continue to progress I'm going to have to prioritize my goals and realy work on them.
I will still try to at least get one or two post out in the next two months. One still being my I can't afford it award.

I did want to get one more post and rant out of the way. It's motivated me to work on a new project that I will explain why I am deciding to try a new path.

After my last post regarding the winner of the I can't afford it award I started having questions. Questions that may seem easy for you to answer but I had no clue. I grew up in a household where we lived self sufficient lifestyle. We did however have one government program we used and that was school lunches. We did not use food stamps or any other government subsidy. My mom and dad bought a modest fixer upper and I believe by the time I was born their house was paid off. Government handouts were looked down upon. Which is odd considering we did use the school lunch program although when our School started a breakfeast program my mom told me not to participate. I still did. Couldn't pass up a bagel and strawberry cream cheese.

When I went to college both my wife and I ( girlfriend at the time) did not use any government subsidies. There was a couple of weeks in college that we were both dirt poor. I was realy good at balancing my account. All of my purchase were accounted for. (I'll have to go over how I did that) I couldn't always go on line to check my balances so I kept meticulous records. I realized one day while I was balancing my paperwork that we were out of money. I was practically down to my last 5 bucks in my wallet and She didn't have a job. I delivered pizzas at night and we used my tips for the next 2 weeks to eat with. I learned a few things that week. I can live on very little. Beans are cheap and so are home made tortillas. We ate alot of bean burritos.

We are soon to have our fourth child. Not one of them were paid with any government funds. I paid for every birth two hostpital stays and am currently paying on my injury last year and my wife's medical bills.

So here is where i am getting at.

Why do some college students get off Scott free from medical bills and other government programs when they CAN get a job but choose not to?

In these next two articles it goes through the numbers. They are alarming and upsetting.

This is BYU. A school which has standards but no standards when it comes to the government paying for young families healthcare, food, and housing. "I'll pay taxes later" is a dumb excuse to using federal tax payer dollars that I and you are paying for. So because  I never used those programs do I get a refund check since I'm paying my taxes then and now. NO. students are ABUSING the system. Your no better than the smoking tattooed lady with the gold tooth on medicaid and food stamps. She CHOSE to purchase those items and you CHOSE to pay for and education. It is a choice for some to live under the poverty level. YOU CAN get a job and not go to college. That is why I do not support college students getting government subsidies. Most of them are able bodied workers who can get a job and make sacrifices to pay for medical bills.

So here is where the announcement comes in. I'm done. No not done with this blog. I'm done trying the life of no subsidy. I need to try the other side I need to find some more answers. As of this month I will be researching on everything and seeing if I qualify. I want and need to know is the grass greener on the other side. My credit was destroyed because I didn't ask for help. I'm in debt because I didn't ask for help. Maybe my living situation would of been better if I asked for help. At least now I have a good excuse if someone ask me why I feel i should be on these programs. It's the same one the college students say. "Because some day I hope to make alot of money and when I do I'll be paying taxes which will help those who were just like me" works for me too!

So I will be slowing things down a
Bit. Updates will come and I will let you know what it's like to be on the other side. (If I get there) Again to clarify the purpose of this blog. It's to get my feelings and frustration out there. It's to warn others of my mistakes so that others won't make them. It's also to balance my thoughts. I sometimes make a statement and then later contradict that statement. What I am doing is trying to find a straight path. My path that I should be on. I hope I am close.

Progress report for may.

I'm kind of on the fence of how my progression has went for the month of May. It started out well. I was able to track my entire debt. Income was paying my bills on time but in just these two last week's have hit me hard. I went in debt another 425 dollars for glasses ( which will be paid off as early as next friday) I have a windshield and registration due by the end of this week. That will set me back another 250 dollars. And I am continually getting more and more Dr bills for my wife's pregnancy which is making it hard to get ahead at all. Now the good news is that there is a cap on the dr bills but still that is another 4900 dollars before I hit that cap and I have last years Dr bills and until recently even one from 2012. (That was primary children's that I mentioned in my post on "the tale of two charities") I'm putting all of that on the back burner right now. Currently I am just making small payments on all of them to try to prevent any from going to collection. My main focus for the rest of the year is to stay out of debt and continue paying credit cards off.

Other than that we have a trip planned in 3 weeks. An actual family activity that just involves my wife and kids. We plan on going camping and to a pageant. The whole trip will last only 5 days but is something I'm looking forward to. I have an announcement to make after my next rant that I'm sorta excited about and lastly I have a long vacation planned for the end of July. So keep the good vibes coming and luck. I hope to one day delete this entire blog but until then keep on keeping on.
